The Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational, also known as CBBI is a professional track and field event showcasing elite national and international track and field athletes.  The event also includes a national junior segment which highlights the talents of our Nation’s young athletes.  CBBI was initiated in April of 2013 when it staged its inaugural edition featuring the likes of Veronica Campbell-Brown, the ‘Golden Knights’, Kirani James, Jehue Gordon, Justin Gatlin, and more; some of whom went on to medal at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow that same year.  With years of anticipation, the 2nd edition of CBBI is scheduled to be held on April, 16, 2016 at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium (Nassau, Bahamas). 

As we have now embarked upon an Olympic year, it is anticipated that a strong group of returning as well as new athletes will open their track and field season in the Bahamas this April.  CBBI provides a perfect opportunity for professional athletes to gauge their level of fitness and register qualifying times as they prepare for the Summer Olympic Games scheduled to be held from August 5-21, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Therefore, CBBI looks forward to presenting a combination of a post-view of the 2015 IAAF World Championships (Beijing) and a pre-view of the 2016 Olympic Games (Road to Rio) to the Bahamian fans and international guests.  The event serves to provide an additional platform on which elite athletes can compete before ‘die hard’ track and field spectators, while inspiring the next generation of athletes to follow their dreams through this opportunity of exposure and higher learning.  Additionally, the event aspires to generally promote youth, sports, culture, and sports tourism of the Bahamas. 

The CBBI Local Organizing Committee in conjunction with the Government of the Bahamas, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture and the National Sports Authority (NSA) looks forward to presenting an exciting evening of sports and culture.  It is our hope that every athlete and spectator/fan will enjoy the CBBI experience.

Acting General Manager Mr. Jeffrey Beckles travelled to Moscow, Russia this August for the International Association of Athletic Federations World Relays. Garnering from the skills and expertise of the professionals who pulled off the World Relays 2013, Mr. Beckles took notes and keenly listened and learned. The Bahamas will host the IAAF World Relays in May 2014 and 2015 that will represent the largest global event for the stadium.
Dan Marino to hold youth football clinic in The Bahamas
Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino, a National Football League (NFL) Hall of Fame player, along with 10 of his legendary friends, will conduct a youth football clinic on Saturday, May 31, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, at the Thomas A. Robinson National Stadium. The clinic is part of the "Dan Marino and His Legendary Friends Weekend Bahamas Getaway" and a partnership agreement between the Miami Dolphins and The Bahamas' Ministry of Tourism.

Robinson Was A 'Sporting Hero Of Truly Legendary Status'
National sporting icon Thomas Augustus Robinson left so many fond memories of his exploits as an international sprinter before he died Sunday after a long illness at the age of 74. Christie, in his tribute to Robinson, said that because of his uniquely important contribution to the history of sports in the Bahamas, the Cabinet office will announce plans for his funeral service shortly. Robinson represented the Bahamas in four consecutive Summer Olympics, starting in 1956. At the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff, he won gold in the 200 yard dash and silver in the 100 yard dash.
