Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational(CBBI) 2016

1/27/2016 1:30:50 PM

The Chris Brown Bahamas Invitational, also known as CBBI is a professional track and field event showcasing elite national and international track and field athletes.  The event also includes a national junior segment which highlights the talents of our Nation’s young athletes.  CBBI was initiated in April of 2013 when it staged its inaugural edition featuring the likes of Veronica Campbell-Brown, the ‘Golden Knights’, Kirani James, Jehue Gordon, Justin Gatlin, and more; some of whom went on to medal at the IAAF World Championships in Moscow that same year.  With years of anticipation, the 2nd edition of CBBI is scheduled to be held on April, 16, 2016 at the Thomas A. Robinson Stadium (Nassau, Bahamas).

As we have now embarked upon an Olympic year, it is anticipated that a strong group of returning as well as new athletes will open their track and field season in the Bahamas this April.  CBBI provides a perfect opportunity for professional athletes to gauge their level of fitness and register qualifying times as they prepare for the Summer Olympic Games scheduled to be held from August 5-21, 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.  Therefore, CBBI looks forward to presenting a combination of a post-view of the 2015 IAAF World Championships (Beijing) and a pre-view of the 2016 Olympic Games (Road to Rio) to the Bahamian fans and international guests.  The event serves to provide an additional platform on which elite athletes can compete before ‘die hard’ track and field spectators, while inspiring the next generation of athletes to follow their dreams through this opportunity of exposure and higher learning.  Additionally, the event aspires to generally promote youth, sports, culture, and sports tourism of the Bahamas.

The CBBI Local Organizing Committee in conjunction with the Government of the Bahamas, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Youth, Sports & Culture and the National Sports Authority (NSA) looks forward to presenting an exciting evening of sports and culture.  It is our hope that every athlete and spectator/fan will enjoy the CBBI experience.

Sand. Sports. Sun. Sea.  An athlete’s and spectator’s paradise.
